Liquefied natural gas is becoming always more popular in Italy, as shown by the numbers released in the annual report SSLNG Watch 2019 of the REF-E economic-energy research center on the final uses of LNG in Italy. Data that confirm and increase the European record in heavy transportation in Italy, third country in the world, after China and the United States, with 70 active distributors (38 in 2018, 15 in 2017).

The Landi Renzo Group, world leader in the design and manufacturing of systems and components for gas mobility (CNG, LNG, H2 and LPG) for cars and heavy vehicles and Snam4Mobility, a subsidiary of Snam and main reference as infrastructure operator in the natural and bio-methane gas transport sector, signed a collaboration agreement to boost sustainable mobility for CNG (compressed natural gas) in Italy.

Mobility interventions in 81 counties with a budget of 164 million, funded by the Ministry of the Environment and local authorities.

Brc Gas Equipment, the historic Italian brand of LPG and methane transformation systems for vehicles, is now part of the Westport Group, and it has been working for years with various car manufacturers to expand the offer of gas fueled models.

The car market is finally showing a positive trend. According to the data published by the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure in August there were 91,551 registrations, a +9.5% increase compared to the same month in 2017.

The 2017 trend for new car matriculation has been presented by Anfia (National Association of the Automotive Industry Supply Chain).
