jacta est
We
too do not want to delve into the meanders – or miasma – of
national politics because other, more authoritative media
already delight us with old brother-in-laws, young escorts,
eternal turncoats and whatever else is obviously considered to
be fundamental to all of us. However, some general
considerations are to be made. We don’t want to seem trivial,
but the automotive gas field, and, in general, that of
ecological mobility, are now left to themselves.
Politics is not dealing with
them.
As
expected, the issue of the failed debt collection deriving from
the ecological incentives on behalf of the workshops and of the
operators, was settled at the
start of the new year. Treasury dumped, on thousands of
handicraft firms and small-sized industries, the incentive that
was so generously granted and which received wide political
consensus. But this slight shift was catastrophic! No
need to hide it: it is ironic that many fitters at the end of
the year, in order to pay the output taxes, have had to take out
loans because, for 2 months, Treasury, did not grant the input
taxes.
The
fact, then, that it is not possible to make politics understand
that the after-market ecological incentives are at no
cost for the Treasury (VAT collected, legalization of undeclared
work, IRPEF (an income tax on individuals), GDP, etc.) and that
the operators only ask the state-system an organizational
coverage, is equally ironical.
In
the end, the term ironic is insufficient to comment on
the fact that at every start of year, the market comes to a
complete standstill because it is perpetually waiting for the
amendments to the infamous “milleproroghe” (an annual decree
extending the life of various government measures) to know their
fate. All this in a picture of general incompetence where, just
to make a good impression and obtain easy consensus, the latest
media, politicians and environmentalists now fill their mouths,
newspapers and tradeshows with electrical cars. With all due
respect for this sector, we confirm that the electric car, as it
is presented now, will for 20 years, only be a part of the urban
mobility and that of public fleets. Or it will be used to
compensate the ecological component of the car industry– and
obtain “credits” – in the EU. The fuel distribution
infrastructures, industry in general, the productive and
distributive systems of electrical energy and the market are not
yet ready for the electrical car. Imagining to travel in an
electric car for work or leisure, especially for suburban trips,
is unthinkable today.
In
this scenario, the only thing that the serious operators can do
is to roll up their sleeves and work to the best of their
capabilities. The die is cast and now God help
those who help themselves: industrialists and artisans must
make do with what they’ve got, with expertise, economic
efficiency and wisdom.
Whatever else comes along, if it does come along, will be a
welcome extra, but it must not be the sole chance for growth.
The best professional training, the most rational organization
of one’s own work and cost analysis must be indispensable
standards on which to build one’s future. The risk is the
disappearance of an entire sector within a few years.
The
translation of Svetlonio’s famous phrase, attributed to Caesar
in the famous crossing of the Rubicone river, is what is done
is done: the Sector from its part did what had to be done,
now let’s get on with work. As always, for that matter.
